Experience sustainable tourism at British Columbia’s original grizzly bear viewing lodge! Knight Inlet Lodge is a First Nations-owned and operated resort located in the traditional territory of the Da’Naxda’xw Awaetlala First Nation at Glendale Cove, and proud to be a 2019 Travelers Choice Award winner for service.
A remote floating resort, accessible only by floatplane from Campbell River on Vancouver Island, Knight Inlet Lodge is in the heart of prime grizzly bear habitat. Although remote the Lodge offers modern comfort and convenience with spacious guest rooms, a welcoming dining room, lounge and stunning patio decks. Guests feast on the best fresh, seasonal, local produce, meat and seafood. Special dietary needs can easily be accommodated.
Each day, guests at the Lodge can experience both land-and marine-based bear viewing tours to give a unique glimpse into the daily life of the bears. Guests can also take part in other activities including whale watching, kayaking and interpretive nature hikes. Whenever possible, First Nations history, Culture and place names are woven into the narrative to give guests the opportunity to learn about the area, wildlife and the people who have called this place home for countless generations.
From mid-July to the end of September it’s whale watching season, and you can see orca and humpback whales flipping their tails and blowing ‘steam’ in the pristine waters. Knight Inlet Lodge is one of a very few locations in the world where you can watch grizzly bears one day, then orca and humpback whales the next, all from the comfort of one remote floating lodge.
