TaJoin Fishwheel Charter Services on a journey through time along the Yukon River; back to before the Gold Rush disrupted the peaceful life of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation, who lived in harmony with the land around what is now Dawson City. Year-round, as the only First Nation Tour company in the Dawson City region, FWCS offers immersive day tours discovering the stories, history and traditions of the Hän People with your experienced local guide, Tommy Taylor.
The Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Nation were hunters and gathers of the land and water; they knew the gold was there but had no use for it—as they say: if it didn’t feed you or keep you warm it was useless. Throughout summer enjoy a river boat excursion past the village of Moosehide, on to Fort Reliance, a fur trading and mining post established in 1874, before enjoying tea and bannock at Dog Island at Tommy’s family fish camp. In winter hop on board a snowmobile to explore the beauty and stillness of traditional Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in territory and learn more about how First Nations People survived and thrived in harsh conditions and why we were dependent on our sled dogs!
ke a trip on the Yukon River with Han First Nations guide, Tommy Taylor for a summer boat excursion, or winter trip under the northern lights. Hear stories of the Han who lived in harmony with the land; visit the heritage Moosehide village, see working fishwheels and rustic cabins; hear tales of the Klondike Gold Rush.
