Discover local Haida artists, carvers, painters, and weavers at Sarah’s Haida Arts and Jewellery in the heart of Old Massett on the northern tip of Haida Gwaii. Dating back to 1975, the gallery was created in their home by Sarah’s late husband, Haida artist, Claude Davidson. The first of its kind in Old Massett, the space was designed in longhouse style to match a hand-carved door gifted by Claude’s son, Reg.
Sarah’s Haida Arts and Jewellery supports artists from the Old Massett community who create argillite, wood carvings, cedar, and raven’s tail weaving, and, of course, jewellery. All the artists are of Haida ancestry and include many of Sarah’s friends and relatives. Claude passed away in 1990, but the legacy of his vision is honoured by Sarah who operates the gallery and lives within the community, supporting many creative talents and bringing Haida art to visitors from around the world.
